Fifth Graders Wanted!
It is early March, the ground is covered with the wet, damp, muddy remains of the last spring snow.
You have just read that the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is seeking to hire middle school students for summer jobs. Students will be paid to conduct trail tours for younger children in all of the state parks in Illinois for any four weeks this summer. The DNR will provide free cabins where the "trail guides" and their families will stay as they work. In order to qualify for the job, you must be able to identify and talk about native Illinois trees found along the trails.
You look out the window at the ice and slush, and dream about a summer in the woods.
